2022 Events Supported
Much of the work that Bike Jeffco does results from conversations with traffic planners and engineers and with people we meet while out riding. Our monthly virtual meetings provide a vital connection too, but we felt that we could do a lot more community engagement by simply getting out for what we call Tent Time.
Chatfield Botanical Garden Lavender Festival
This year we’ve been to multiple events – and sometimes we’ve made our own events! Our messages are to share the meaning and intent behind the new Colorado Safety Stop bill; spread the word that Share the Road signage is being replaced by the far more effective State Law: 3 Feet to Pass signage; share stories about e-bikes, e-bike pack trips, commuting; and to support cycling events. Throughout the year, each of the events enriched our understanding of the community of riders in Jefferson County and surrounding regions. Networking with other bike advocacy groups and with community advocacy groups helps us see that there are many facets to our bike world that we can further explore. The more that we understand how we can help improve cycling safety and enjoyment, the more targeted our work and resources can be to get the work done!
In 2022 we pitched our tent and promoted our message of bike laws and safety at the following events & locations:
- Chatfield Botanical Garden Lavender Festival with over 8000 attendees
- Lookout Mountain
- Bike to Work Day at the Jeffco Courthouse
- Lakewood Earth Day
- Colorado College Empower Connference
- Regis University Sustainability Fair
- Beti Bike Bash
- National Public Lands Day where 690 volunteers cleaned up a stretch of Clear Creek
We also supported packet pickup for the Triple Bypass and manned a water stop for the Denver Century ride. We welcome volunteers to support us at these events!
